The Three Books of Occult Philosophy Course

This is a comprehensive full read-through of Heinrich Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy.

This year long, one-year course will be guided by me. I will assign chapters to discuss in the following week. In our discussions, we will go over the material itself (of course), and discuss the sources and concepts within. The length of the reading assignments and classes will vary slightly, but I have divided the book into subject chunks, and each class will cover at least one of these. We will not be splitting the course into three separate courses, one for each book. This book was intended to be read continuously as one text.

What makes this unique?

There have been other analyses and long-form book clubs on Three Books offered by academics and practitioners. This is the only one offered by not only the translator of Three Books, but also a practitioner and astrologer. I spent 10 years translating this, which entailed about a dozen deep read-throughs and drafts, and I additionally read the book independently a few times in the years prior to translating it. This course takes an immersive and experiential approach as well as an academic approach.

What will taking the class be like?

  • Classes will be held bi-weekly, except on holidays.

  • Each class will be 60-90 minutes.

  • We will discuss the previous class’s reading assignment as well as general questions.

  • We will do this over Zoom, and classes will be recorded.

  • I love a conversational vibe. We’re all in this together! People reading books.
